Here is the latest competitor to Shuttle’s small form factor desktop casing from Aopen. Announced today this compact desktop case goes by the name XC Encore OE700. The case supports Penrym Core 2 Duo CPU and is based on the GM45 Express chipset with ICH9M and HDMI out. The XC Encore OE700 will be launched in Japan in May 2009.
Samsung BD-P4600 Released in Korea
The Samsung BD-P4600, debuted earlier this year at CES, is now available to the South Korean market. The player is claimed to be the world slimmest Blu-Ray player from Samsung, supporting BD-Live 2.0, DVD upscalling, DivX, Wi-Fi, 1GB of internal memory, and USB 2.0. Unfortunately, there is no info on pricing so far but looking at the smile on the girl’s face I suspect it will be expensive.
Samsung Fuel Cell Battery For Military
Samsung has successfully developed fuel cell batteries and this ethanol-powered fuel cell is set to power military paraphernalia next year. However, it is not going to run laptops for a month as originally promised. The DMFC (Direct Methanol Fuel Cell) is able to power a laptop for 72 hours. Each battery weights at a hefty 7.7 lb.

Ultra-Fast 256GB Corsair SSD Due Out Soon
Corsair is set to launch an ultra-fast 256GB Solid State Drive (SSD), with an integrated 64MB of cache. Dubbed as the Corsair P256, the SSD has an aluminum design and a 3.0Gbps interface, with an average read speed of about 200Mbps and a write speed of 169.1MBps at 0.1ms random access times and burst speeds as high as 248.2Mbps. Unfortunately, there’s no word on release dates yet, but it’s expected to cost around $749.

Latest Acer Aspire One Variant
Acer today rolled out their latest Aspire One 751. The 11.6 inch netbook comes with a larger trackpad compared to its predecessors and competitors. The 11.6 inch display provides a resolution of 1,366 x 768. Other important features include Wi-Fi, 3G, an Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz, a SCH USW15S Chipset, GMA500 graphics, 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, a 6-cell battery, and Windows XP Pro. No word on pricing or availability at this time.
HTC Snap Smartphone Announced
Here’s the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone ‘HTC Snap’ from HTC, which was announced yesterday at the 2009 CTIA Wireless. This new smartphone boasts the new Inner Circle feature, which according to HTC, “makes it easy for users to prioritize messages from the most important people in their lives at the press of a button.” Other interesting features include full QWERTY keyboard, 2.4-inch display, 2MP camera, 528MHz Qualcomm CPU, 256MB of ROM, 128MB of RAM, a microSDHC card slot, GPS/AGPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, quadband GSM and dualband HSDPA/WCDMA. The HTC Snap will be available starting the second quarter of 2009, however in US the HTC Snap will be made available under the name HTC S522 (unlocked and with HSDPA 850/1900MHZ connectivity).
Sony Handycam TG5V With GPS
The new TG5V (or TG7 in Europe) is a successor to the Sony Handycam TG1. Weighing at 230 grams and measuring 30mm x 117mm x 62mm, the camcorder is now lighter and smaller than its predecessor. The video camera offers 16GB of Internal memory (or 6hours of video recoding), a 30mm wide angle, a new BIONZ and Exemor image processor for low light recording, and new coating for the Camera body to prevent scratches. An integrated GPS antenna and NAVTEQ maps can be used to automatically geo-tag videos or images to keep a record of the exact shooting location. The Sony Handycam TG5V will be available in Japan from April 20 onward.

Niveus today introduced its new HTPC. Dubbed as the Niveus Zone, the device measures only 6.5 inch x 6.5 inch x 1.97 inch and weighing at just 3.2 pounds. The Niveus Zone HTPC features Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz processor with 2GB RAM, Gigabit Ethernet, Blu-ray drive, 160GB hard drive, Intel GMA X4500 HD graphics chipset, HDMI 1.3 connectivity and 7.1 channel surround sound. The HTPC is powered by Windows Vista OS and retails for $1,499. Each purchase comes equipped with a multimedia remote control.

Elecom’s Display Port Dongles
If you are an owner of the MacBook laptop, but only have an HDMI/ DVI LCD screen, then you should use a converter to connect your Macbook to your HDMI/DVI LCD screen. Elecon offers two dongles for you, Display Port to DVI and Display Port to HDMI. Unfortunately, the price that Elecom’s asking for these dongles is expensive. The Display Port to HDMI dongle is priced at 5,670 Yen ($58), while the Display Port to DVI dongle retails for 5,040 Yen ($52).
